Together We Can Go Far

It was about one o’clock, the hottest part of the day on 26 September. The sun shined like it wants to kill you. It was crowded there, filled by people who demanding over their rights. I was there wearing a red jacket, stood in the middle of people. Observing around and shouting as everyone did. It was a paradox since for me it was too late for protesting the laws made by the House of Representative of Indonesia yet, to be honest, I feel like I have power because we stand together. We are as college students, farmers, students or commoners. We are as Indonesian.

The rally lied in several places such as Jakarta, Surabaya, Bandung, Pekanbaru, etc. People brought a lot of posters to speak up their mind. They against criminal codes that recently created by House of Representative of Indonesia, KPK (Corruption Eradication Commission), the approval of sexual abusive laws, conflict in Wamena Papua, Forest fire and so on. See, we have many problems here. But why it did not end?

There were some posters people brought. It was all about justice demand for elite politic. They hope the government could seriously solve all problems. Not to playing around or just sleeping during the meeting then creating something useless.

We have democracy and we have Pancasila yet still don’t work as it should be. Pancasila takes part as an ideology to lead Indonesia government. And Democracy is of the people, by the people, and for the people. Well, democracy means our government is elected by citizens. Here, citizens vote for their government officials. These officials represent the citizens' ideas and concerns in government. So the ideas to created laws must be for our sake and goodness. For we as Indonesian. If the government is not going well, making a joke of laws, it’s legal to protest. This land is ours. Our right to taking care.
